On a sunday noon, when i was pondering over a puzzling question( set by the infamous banglorean 'Byju'), the sight of my goldfish trying to puke out an ovoid object perplexed me. My Prima facie glance suggested that it was a desperate act of forage, but later i realised that this mongoloid creature had actually gulped down a gravel stone, which it found extremely difficult to dislodge from its mouth later. I could do nothing but watch it perform acrobatics as it would carry itself to the top , swirl in to take an appropriate position and then perform a breaststroke in a propulsive manner towards the bottom of the tank to shy out that ugly ovoid stone from its mouth. It tried this feat unnumerable number of times, but in vain.
The clock ticked, I watched, but the goldie still couldn't find a feasible solution to its own created dilemma. By now the goldfish had lost all hopes of its survival and so, it was junior shetti who decided to assist goldie's struggle against the unusual enemy 'gravel'. I started searching for clues on net by posting queries, but the time factor was exhausted by now. Fortunately, i stumbled upon a site where i least expected my mystifier to be solved, i was taken aback by a comment posted by a 9 yr old kid. He mentioned the same problem as the one i was facing, but had solved it in an unusual way which guaranteed success. He had asked to hold goldie by its tail and to quickly remove the gravel with the help of a blunt toothpick as fast as possible (within 5 seconds). I was skeptical to perform such an act, but the sight of my incapacitated goldie forced me to do so ! I wanted to avoid my goldie's death with my own hands; so i requested my dad to master the act.
He in no time, took the goldie by his tail, held it aloof and removed the gravel on second try. At first, it seemed that the goldie wouldn't survive after having exhausted its entire energy in trying to jut out the gravel and also the fact that air had filled in its fins, but it took only a few days for this mystique creature to revive its energy and to socialize with its fellas. The true hero who emerged from this incident was my 'DAD' on whom the goldie might have definitely showered its blessings, as if it weren't my Dad, then my 'lame duck' (goldie) would have been history by now.
